Doctors
Dr Oladapo Alalade
Partner - MB BS (1988) DCH, DFFP, MRCGP, Dip SEM, PG Cert (Ed)
Trained in Nigeria, MBBS in 1988. Arrived in the Uk in 1990 and started working as a house officer at St Cross Hospital, Rugby in 1992. Worked in the hospital community speciality of paediatrics for about 10 years from Bradford to Tunbridge Wells Trained as a General Practitioner in Portsmouth in 2001, worked as a locum in numerous practices until joining The University Surgery in 2004.
Dr Bernard Klemenz
Partner - MDD,MRCGP
Qualified in Germany in 1990. He did his MD Thesis in Oncology in 1992 and trained in medicine (Geriatric medicine, nephrology, oncology and paediatrics) in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Belfast and worked in Kings College, London and Addenbrookes's Hospital in Cambridge. He trained as a GP in Bristol in 1999 and has been in General Practice in Portsmouth since 2000. He is interested in medical education and all aspects of medicine. He enjoys travelling, sailing and relaxing whilst playing the piano.
Dr Cheng Wong
Salaried Doctor - MB BS, MRCP, MRCGP
I completed my medical training in London rotating through gastroenterology, respiratory, vascular, oncology, elderly medicine and accident and emergency posts. My GP training was in Ilford, Essex. Currently I work at the University Surgery as a salaried GP alongside a team of wonderful colleagues. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family, cooking, travelling, dancing and of course karaoke.
Dr Jiunn Den
Salaried Doctor - MB ChB, MRCGP
I trained at University of Edinburgh. After my foundation years posts in Edinburgh, I continued my surgical training at Sheffield training hospitals NHS foundation trust. I undertook a period of training in Urology and General Surgery in South Yorkshire. I then undertook a 3 year GP training on the Isle of Wight and was awarded an MRCGP. I am currently a Salaried GP based at The University Surgery. My interests include all forms of minor surgery in primary care setting.
Nurse Practitioners
Ann Borton
Nurse Practitioner
Ann qualified as a nurse in 1999, she then worked as Community Nurse for 5 years, followed by completing her practitioner degree in 2004. She then did her prescribing qualification in 2006 and moved to General Practice from Community. Ann has worked across Hampshire including A&E and she currently works with OOH (PPCA). In her spare time, Ann enjoys walking her dogs on Hayling beach and has just taken up running (again).
Nurses
Helen Davies
Practice Nurse
Helen trained as a nurse in Kings College, London and worked for several years in London. She then returned to her home town of Portsmouth and trained as a midwife; where She then worked as a midwife in Hongkong for 3 years. On returning to Portsmouth, Helen started working as a Practice Nurse and has done so for 22 years. She has worked in various GP surgeries in Portsmouth and for the past 13 years has been working for The University Surgery. Helen specialises in sexual health and diabetes management. Helen is a local to Portsmouth and when she is not working, enjoys exotic holidays and walking her pug.
Karen Mitchell
Practice Nurse
Karen started her nurse training at Guildford University and St Richards Hospital in Chichester. She worked on an Acute Medical Ward at St Richards for 4 years, then became a Community Nurse in Portsmouth for 10 years. Karen started working as a Practice Nurse in Portsmouth 4 years ago and joined The University surgery last August 2019. When not at work, Karen enjoys dressmaking.

Beverley Franckeiss
Health Care Assistant
Bev, has worked in the NHS for 20>Years. She started on the wards at QAH doing HCA work and phlebotomy, she also worked in theatre, she did this for 10 years. From there she moved into primary care, working for 10 years at another Practice in Portsmouth, before joining us 15 months ago. Since then, Bev has become a essential member of the team. In her spare time, Bev enjoys spending time with her family and baking; her true passion is with horses.
